How to back up iPhone photos to your Mac
Set up Keepluma Space on Mac and Photos on iPhone. Learn about photo access, local originals, offline computers and iOS background limits.
FOUR EASY STEPS
Create an account
Choose an available sign-in option on the registration page. Use the same sign-in provider and account on both devices: different providers create separate accounts.
RegisterLog in on your computer
Install Keepluma Space on a compatible Mac. Sign in and choose a dedicated Keepluma folder on your own storage to create your space. Check the system requirements on the download page before installation.
Download desktop appLog in on your phone
Install Keepluma Photos on your iPhone and sign in with the same account, or confirm a family invitation. Complete any required admission steps, then grant photo access when the app requests it. Access is limited by the permission you grant.

Keep your Mac running, its storage connected and both apps able to reach the network. Check the task list for completed, waiting or failed transfers. A signed-in account or a connected device alone does not mean that your photos have finished backing up.
Which iPhone photos can be backed up?
Only authorized photos and videos fully readable on this device are backed up. Cloud-only originals are not fetched. Hidden media is excluded by default; recently deleted media is excluded.
Does backup continue in the background?
iOS controls execution opportunities. Continuous background transfer or instant upload is not guaranteed. Progress is retained across suspension and resumed with valid authorization.
What happens when your Mac is offline?
When the computer is offline, uploads wait and eligible existing cache remains available. The platform has no media copy to fetch.
Where are originals stored, and who can read them?
Originals are stored on your Mac as files; the control platform does not store a media copy. App-level private libraries do not encrypt the Mac’s disk or prevent someone with operating-system file access from reading it. Keep an independent backup of important originals.
